Each personal computer or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program that communicates with the computer hardware, including peripheral devices such as a mouse or a printer, together with any applications that are present on your system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, each and every application runs within the parameters established by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This is valid for both standard website scripts and server-side software like a media server. In case a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two separate Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so that you'll be able to set up a different software environment on the very same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

In case you choose to go for one of our VPS server packages, you shall be able to select one of the three Linux distributions which we offer for the OS of the servers - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They are among the most preferred and most reliable server OSs out there and we offer them in order to give you a choice for the software environment of your machine in case that you intend to install some application with particular requirements with regards to the packages that need to be present on the server. We also offer three hosting Control Panels and which one of them you'll be able to use will depend on the OS that you have selected. We leave the possibility to change the server Operating System open, so if you want to use an application that requires an OS different from the one that's already present, we can always re-install the VPS. In addition, we can keep the OS up-to-date on a weekly basis by installing all the security updates which may be released.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server packages - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They are all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they are freely available so they won't increase the cost of your new server, but also because they are extremely stable and secure. Each one of them is backed up by a large community of developers, so you'll be able to choose from countless software packages that you could install on your server if the app that you would like to employ has specific requirements. The Operating System will also determine what hosting Control Panel you can use since the Control Panels that we offer run on specific OSs only and because we want to give you as much adaptability as possible, we offer several OSs and multiple Control Panels. If you choose a server with a given OS, we can change it upon request in the event that it turns out that you will need alternative one. We will also keep your OS updated weekly as part of our optional Managed Services upgrade.
