A subdomain is part of a web address that is under the main domain, such as name.example.com. Technically, even in www.example.com the "www" part is a subdomain since the fully qualified domain name is only "example.com". Every subdomain can have its own website and records and can also be hosted through a different company if you need to use some feature which isn't offered by your current service provider. An example for using a subdomain is if you have a business website and an online store under a subdomain where clients can purchase your products. In addition, you can have a forum where they can talk about the products and by using subdomains rather than subfolders you will avoid any risk of all sites going down when you perform maintenance, or update one of the website scripts. Keeping your sites separated is less risky in the event of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Website Hosting

Every single website hosting plan which we supply will permit you to create many subdomains with no more than a few mouse clicks in your web hosting CP. They are going to be listed in the section in which you create them and arranged under the main domain for more convenience, so that you can very easily keep track of all of them. In addition, you can access many functions for any one of the subdomains via right-click context menus - as an example, you can view or change their DNS records, access the site files, and more. While setting up a new subdomain, you'll also have a number of options that you can pick from - define the default access folder, create customized error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or decide if the subdomain is going to use a shared or a dedicated IP address. The number of subdomains you will have is entirely up to you because we haven't restricted this feature for any of our packages.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our semi-dedicated servers haven't got a restriction for the number of subdomains you can create. Adding a new subdomain inside the account takes only a couple of clicks inside the Hepsia hosting CP and during the process you can choose the folder the subdomain will access if it is going to be different from the default one, set up tailor-made error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions if you need them or set a dedicated IP address rather than the shared server one if you have added such an upgrade to your semi-dedicated account. After the subdomain is set up, you'll be able to access logs and visitor statistics or you can quickly jump to the website files for it in the File Manager area using instant access buttons. All subdomains that you have inside the account will be conveniently listed under their root domain, so you'll be able to find and manage any of them with ease.
